In response to an identified need for a reliable postpartum screening tool for Home Visitors, the Calgary Healthy Families Collaborative (CHFC) created the Calgary Healthy Families Screening Tool (CHFST). This tool was developed over 18 months in the context of an organizational research framework. The CHFST has been extensively tested using test-retest and inter-rater-reliability methods. Having demonstrated high sensitivity, the Calgary Healthy Families Collaborative and other organizations have successfully used this screening tool since 2007.

The Calgary Healthy Families Screening Tool is reliable and valid - it may be used for assessment.

Workshop Overview:

Learning Objectives:

Understand the purpose and use of the Calgary Healthy Families Screening Tool (CHFST), including the rationale behind individual questions.
Learn techniques for asking difficult questions in a strength-based, non-judgmental manner.
Explore the application of the CHFST in home visitation programs and individual practice.
Equip participants to effectively use the CHFST in their professional practice.
