Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a comprehensive two-day training program designed to educate participants about various mental illnesses and provide support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Similar to physical first aid, Mental Health First Aid is offered until professional help is available or the crisis is resolved.

Workshop Overview:

Prerequisite:

  • There is no prerequisites for this training 

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health issues in family, friends, colleagues, and clients, and confidently intervene when someone may be a danger to themselves or others.
  • Provide comfort and support to individuals experiencing mental health problems and offer help to prevent these issues from worsening.
  • Identify professional and self-help resources for individuals with mental health problems and promote coping skills to aid in the recovery of good mental health.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) now offers official certification.

This in-depth course, upon completion and assessment, provides participants with:

  • Mental Health Certification that is valid for three (3) years
  • Increased mental health awareness
  • An understanding of stigma, diagnostic labelling, and barriers to helping
  • Effective communication techniques to support individuals in crisis

Requirements for Participation:

  • For this interactive training, each attendee needs: a computer with a camera, microphone, and stable internet connection

Requirements for Certification: 

  • To receive certification, participants must complete an exam provided by the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

We encourage you to send a substitute if you are unable to attend the workshop, as there is a NO SHOW charge for all absent registrants. Cancelations need to be made ONE WEEK prior to the scheduled workshop date.

Should a workshop not reach its minimum registration requirement, it will be canceled approximately ONE WEEK prior to the workshop commencement date. Registrants will be informed by email or telephone, and registration costs will be refunded.
