Perinatal Mental Health Workshop is designed for practitioners working with pre- and post-natal families. Participants will explore postpartum experiences and gain insights into creating a supportive environment for discussing postpartum challenges.

Learning Objectives:

Day 1 – Part One - PPD 101: What you need to know about Perinatal Mood Disorder

Participants will explore:

  • The spectrum of postpartum experiences and its diverse manifestations.
  • How to recognize symptoms and create a supportive environment for discussing post-partum challenges.
  • Strategies to effectively support families facing difficulties during the post-partum period.

Day 2 – Part Two - Secrets Mothers Keep: Let’s Talk About Postpartum Scary Thoughts

Focus will be on:

  • Understanding of specific aspects of Perinatal Mood Disorder.
  • Exploring the prevalence and impact of scary thoughts on maternal well-being.
  • Drawing insights from Karen Kleiman & Amy Wenzel’s book, "Dropping the Baby and Other Scary Thoughts," and over 20 years of experience from the Perinatal Mental Health team at Families Matter.

  • For this interactive training, each attendee needs a computer with a camera, microphone, and stable internet connection.
  • Participants must attend the entire training to receive a certificate.
