Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a comprehensive two-day training program designed to educate participants about various mental illnesses and provide support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Similar to physical first aid, Mental Health First Aid is offered until professional help is available or the crisis is resolved.

Workshop Overview:

Prerequisite:

  • There is no prerequisite for this training

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health issues in family, friends, colleagues, and clients, and confidently intervene when someone may be a danger to themselves or others.
  • Provide comfort and support to individuals experiencing mental health problems and offer help to prevent these issues from worsening.
  • Identify professional and self-help resources for individuals with mental health problems and promote coping skills to aid in the recovery of good mental health.

Cancelation Policy:

Cancelations must be made at least ONE WEEK before the scheduled workshop date.

Should a workshop not reach its minimum registration requirement, it will be canceled approximately ONE WEEK prior to the workshop start date.

*In partnership with the Government Alberta, AHVNA will provide PD funding ($17.50/hour) to licensed educators for the hours allotted to this training. This course is approximately 12 hours of training.
