Introduction to Early Child Development is the first session of the Introduction to Child Development workshop series. This series is designed to support Home Visitors, Family Resource Network Practitioners, and others who serve and support families with children from 0-6 years. These workshops will be ideal for those who are new to child development or those with some knowledge seeking a practical refresher through the lens of home visitation and family support.

Introduction to Child Development (Session #1) is a prerequisite for the subsequent age-specific workshops:

*NOTE: Session #1 will address foundational knowledge and common terms regarding early childhood development. If you have studied/upgraded your learning in child development in the past 10 years, or work in the field of childcare/development, this introductory session is optional.

Workshop Overview:

  • Provide a basic understanding of the developmental domains and developmental tasks for each age group and how this can inform practice with families
  • Explore and practice ways in which those working with families can guide and support caregivers and children as they engage in developmentally appropriate activities
